AK Have Your Say

The opportunity - In March 2018, Auckland Council brought together its four key plans for Auckland’s future into one public consultation. This was an opportunity for Aucklanders to input on the long term plans for the region, around transport, sewarage and stormwater, environmental protection, growth and other policy planning. But how do you engage a jaded, disparate audience in a hurry?

The strategy - To engage Aucklanders in the pending decisions we had to reinforce that their opinions matter by leading with issues important to them. To engender trust the campaign had to be genuine, in touch, and highly relevant. Our 30 day game plan was to promote real people’s real views, in real-time. We needed to create urgency and mass awareness, making March the month to get involved and have your voice heard.

The creative - AK Have Your Say. Our campaign call out kept the message friendly and approachable. Under signboards that refelcted North, South, East and West Auckland through colour and iconography, we went to the streets to gather real opinions. To get the conversation flowing we seeded the key topics across digital outdoor and radio. Respondents were able to get involved by written or online submission, at events or by tagging their social repsonses with #akhaveyoursay.
